Over 250 years service

Some of our Volunteers at HRI recently received certificates marking their service to the station.

The Hospital Broadcasting Association gives awards each year for members who have dedicated time to hospital radio stations. HRI station staff were presented with certificates at our recent AGM totalling an incredible 255 years of service.

Gwenda and John our longest serving members

Certificates were given for five, ten, 15, 20, 25, and in two cases 35 years.

Our longest two serving members are Gwenda Gibson and John Alborough who both joined the station when it was based at Anglesea Road Hospital. Gwenda is a Wednesday night team member, looking after the library and answering the telephone (plus making plentiful cups of tea and coffee). John meanwhile presents the The Thursday Night Request Show – The Alborough Festival, which is the station’s longest running programme.

HRI would like to thank all it’s volunteers for their dedication to the station.
